Aaron Taylor-Johnson Officially On for Avengers: Age of Ultron

So it’d been rumoured since late July that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he hasn’t exactly been quiet about it. But until now it hadn’t been official, finally though, The Wrap is reporting that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is officially set to play Pietro “Quicksilver” Maximoff in Joss Whedon’s 2015 sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Oddly enough, Taylor-Johnson won’t be the only one playing the speedster on the big screen. His Kick-Ass co-star Evan Peters is set to play exactly the same role in X-Men Days Of Future Past, the only difference being that Evan Peter’s will play the character more faithfully to the comics as Magneto’s son, an understandable difference as the Marvel cinematic universe is not allowed to mention “Mutants” nor any characters that they have sold on to other studios.

On the topic of why both studios are able to use the character and who actually owns the character rights, Marvel Studio’s President of Entertainment Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype “We both have them. There’s a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with Avengers, but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto’s relatives, but cannot have anything to do with The Avengers.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit cinemas on May 1 2015
