Why and when did releasing games in broken state become excusable?

A story about pile of cartridges and few thousand lines of code Seriously - when did releasing video games in a very buggy and glitchy state become excusable? Why those triple-A blockbusters, with giant names behind them are almost always broken? Why, at the start of this new console generation do they continue to ship games in this state? When did we accept that when we buy a product, be it in advance or on launch day, it will need multiple patches to reach the kind of stability we should be Read more [...]

A Link to Awesome! Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Review

For me personally A Link Between Worlds had a lot to live up to. It is essentially a sequel to A Link to the Past (despite being a couple of hundreds year further into the timeline) and promised to bring players back into the world of that early SNES game. For me A Link to the Past is very important in my Zelda fandom, as it is the very first Zelda game I ever played sparking my love for the series that has lasted for well over 10 years now, and still holds the coveted Number 2 position on my Read more [...]

Super Hot Thumbs

SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT.

The narrow hall is filled with bullets. At one end are three gunmen, identical silhouettes of red in black sunglasses. At the other end is me: unarmed and out in the open. Across the screen flashes a message: ‘TAKE THEM OUT,’ and I begin to move. A pistol winks at me from the carpeted floor, but half a hallway sits between me and it. As chaos erupts all around me and death seems all but certain, I do what years of hard won FPS experience screams at me not to do. I stay out in the Read more [...]

Review: Capsule

The numbers on the counter slowly tick down, marking my distance from salvation. With each breath the oxygen levels dip, my laboured breathing beginning to drown out even the groans of the capsules protesting engine. The sound of my own breathing seems deafening ,growing more laboured with each gasp. Hunched over the sterile blue display I watch the distance to my destination tick down. The number is falling fast, but the oxygen levels are falling faster still. I increase power to Read more [...]

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Review

There's something to be said for cinema that holds a mirror up to the very society we live in. For instance; the fact that we're finding real substance here, in a franchise that one would think based on its source material and teen appeal, would offer little more than some Twilight-esque angsty drama. But, rather surprisingly, this second installment in the Hunger Games franchise based on the books by author Suzanne Collins is a massive leap in the right direction for the teen drama genre. No laughable Read more [...]

Warner Bros Registers Several Names for Several Possible Man of Steel 2 Subtitles

Entertainment news website Fusible.com has reported that Warner Bros has secretly legally registered several potential titles for the upcoming Man of Steel 2 due to hit theatres in 2015. The article can be seen here. This news somewhat clears up the confusion on whether or not the film would actually be titled ‘Batman vs. Superman’ which is what many have referred to the film ever since the announcement was made at Comic Con that the sequel would prominently feature the Dark Knight himself Read more [...]

Colin Farrell Says the World of Warcraft Script is “Amazing”

Put this one in the skeptical pessimism category! While it does still indeed baffle me as to what kind of dire financial straits have befallen Colin Farrell to have pushed him to agree to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the multi-billion dollar World of Warcraft online game series, it appears as though he doesn't quite share my pessimism. In a recent interview with IGN Farrell spoke about the project, talked about director Duncan Jones (Moon) and says the script “amazing”. "I Read more [...]

Adam Driver Is Nightwing…Adam Driver Is NOT Nightwing…

Well my friends I’m back, sorry for my long absence but due to some minor ailments and major hypochondria flair up with a touch of paranoid neurosis I have been temporarily put on a self-imposed quarantine.  But when I saw news that Girls star Adam Driver was rumoured to have been cast as Nightwing (AKA my favourite of the Robins, Dick Grayson) in DC and Warner Bros upcoming Man of Steel sequel, I just had to venture outside of my plastic sterilization bubble and do some research to tell you Read more [...]

Daredevil and Other Marvel Heroes Headed to Netflix

We super geeks love nothing more than super news about our favourite super heroes, right? That’s why when the announcement came this morning that Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios would partner up with US content streaming provider Netflix to produce not one, but four TV series, I may have been so excited that I inadvertently impregnated my jeans. (Side note, I do hope the resulting child isn't just a pair of legs with denim for skin, I’m not prepared for such a big life challenge.) These Read more [...]
