They keep making videogame movies

Video game movies have a long and sordid history. After several fits, starts, Japan only releases and several movies that seemed only to vaguely understand the concept of what a video game was or even how a computer worked, the first true video game movie was released.   That movie was 1993's Super Mario Bros, and it set the tone for every video game movie that was to follow.     Throughout the 90's these travesties were continually churned out by studios only interested Read more [...]

Justice League: War Trailer

Warner Bros took to Comic Con 2013 to announce that the next of their popular DC animated movies would be Justice League: War. Now the first trailer has arrived and it’s pretty kick ass. Superman and Batman (voiced by Alan Tudyk and Jason O’Mara respectively) team up with Wonder Woman (Michelle Monaghan), Green Lantern (Justin Kirk) and the Flash (Christopher Gorham) to stop an Read more [...]

Trick ‘r Treat 2 to Go into Production

I love me some Halloween and it doesn’t get Halloweenier than 2009’s cult horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat. Although the project is yet to be officially given the green light, it’s said to be in the very early stages, Trick 'r Treat writer and director Michael Dougherty announced at a special fan screening on Monday that a sequel to his Halloween anthology is on the way. "It’s funny because when I first dreamt up the idea of making the first film, I thought, “How neat would it be Read more [...]

Tim Burton Confirmed to Be in Talks for Beetlejuice 2?

So it’s been reported for a few days now that this was rumoured but it looks like Beetlejuice is coming back from the dead after all with Tim Burton himself said to be coming back to direct, and coming from the self-proclaimed world’s biggest Burton fan, it kind of brings to mind that immortal quote from Clerks director Kevin Smith when the sequel was originally announced in 1990 as Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, “didn't we say all we needed to say with the first Beetlejuice? Must we go tropical?” I’m Read more [...]

When Will Marvel Announce Their Phase 3 Film Slate?

Earlier this year Marvel Studios revealed the date for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man as July 31, 2015 but their plans beyond Ant-Man are somewhat vague. Besides the obvious sequels in the Captain America and Thor solo franchises there are still no definitive plans for a Black Widow solo film or a continuation for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, a real shame as I think they’re both some of the most interesting characters on the Avengers roster by far. There is however plans to get characters such as Doctor Read more [...]

MARVEL is Figuring Out What to Do With Daredevil

Marvel Studios has unquestionably become a Hollywood force to be reckoned with having achieved what no one ever thought they could, assembling the Avengers for the big screen! Last year though, Marvel re-acquired characters that it had sold off to other studios over a decade ago which had been misused to make terrible abortions disguised as films, and one of those characters is fan-boy favourite Daredevil. And with Marvel’s successful streak of movies, and Daredevil’s recent surge in popularity Read more [...]

Review: Curse of Chucky

Chucky’s back and it’s play time! But before I get into this review  let me make one thing about this movie perfectly clear, I don’t want to get all wanky and over intellectualize a movie that, I’ll be honest, is the intellectual equivalent of waving your penis at oncoming traffic from a freeway overpass whilst wearing  a dunces hat. If you’re looking for cranial, psychological horror, you won’t find it here. But what Curse of Chucky does deliver on is a cheesey, cliché ridden, Read more [...]

Is Wonder Woman headed to TV?

Eager to see Wonder Woman on the big screen? It seems that WB Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara is too. Big time! At a recent entertainment conference this week Tsujihara gave a talk about the current state of DC's big hitters in film and television calling the companies failure to take advantage of their DC properties outside of the Batman and recent Man of Steel franchises a "missed opportunity," and adding further that the studio apparently has major plans for a number of other DC characters Read more [...]
